When will my Xiaomi phone get HyperOS 4, and what does early November mean?

Early November is when Xiaomi starts sending HyperOS 4 to the first group of phones. Your phone might get it that week, or later in the month, and Xiaomi doesn't promise which. If your phone is on the list and nothing has arrived, that is almost certainly normal.

In October, Annalise wrote that HyperOS 4 had a China date and no global one. There is a global one now, more or less. Xiaomi published its schedule for phones sold outside China on 3 November, in three waves. Gizmochina reported the next day that the phased rollout had started.

Read the small print before the dates

Xiaomi's page doesn't give dates. It gives three starting points: "Starting from early November 2026", "Starting from mid-November 2026" and "Starting from December 2026". The words "starting from" are doing most of the work.

Footnote 12 on the same page says the rest. The schedule is "estimated and subject to change", and it can move by region, carrier, model and how development goes. It also says the order the phones are listed in is not the order they'll get the update. So the Xiaomi 17 Ultra sitting at the top of the first wave doesn't mean it goes first.

In practice, then, early November means the first phones in that group can start receiving it somewhere in the first ten days or so of the month. It says nothing about when the last phone in the group gets it. Xiaomi doesn't define the phrase anywhere, and I'd rather tell you that than pretend it does.

Now the awkward part. If a news story put your Xiaomi 15 or Redmi Note 17 in the first wave, it wasn't wrong when it was written. Xiaomi's HyperOS account posted a schedule on X, and Gizmochina and Android Authority both reported it with 33 devices in early November. Xiaomi's page, when I read it on 6 November, lists 26. Seven have moved to mid-November: the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Xiaomi 15, all four Redmi Note 17 models and the POCO X8.

I can't tell you which version is newer. If your phone is one of the seven, plan on mid-November and treat anything earlier as a pleasant surprise.

If yours has not arrived, work out which of these it is

Roughly in the order you're likely to hit them.

Your phone isn't on any of the three listsIt isn't one of the 82No. Xiaomi hasn't said anything about plans after December

Rule these out first

  1. Check the exact model name. Go to Settings, then About phone, and match the name letter for letter against the lists above, including Pro, Plus, C, S and 5G. This is the check that clears the most confusion, because so many names differ by one character.
  2. Check where the phone came from. Xiaomi's page says its schedule applies to global versions sold outside the Chinese mainland. A phone imported from China follows a different rollout, and this list doesn't apply to it.
  3. Look for the update yourself. In Settings, open About phone, tap the HyperOS version and choose Check for updates. Don't wait for a notification to tell you.
  4. Make room for it. Gizmochina reported that the download can be over 8GB if you're coming from HyperOS 3. Free up space, charge the phone and connect to Wi-Fi before you start.

Expect the update before all of its features

Getting HyperOS 4 doesn't mean getting everything on Xiaomi's page. The footnotes are long, and a few matter if you're comparing your phone with the promo pictures.

Xiaomi says some widget styles will come in a separate software update by the end of November. Lock screen styling is only on some phones. The soft light glass look, and the light effects when you tap and drag, depend on the phone's hardware, so an older phone in the December wave may show less of it. The AI features, from voice notes to gallery search, depend on the model, the region and the language. Even the performance figures on the page come from Xiaomi's own lab, tested on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.

None of that is unusual. It is still worth knowing before you decide the update didn't install properly.

What I had wrong

I read "early November" as "by 10 November". It isn't. It's when the first phones in that group start getting it, and Xiaomi says plainly that the timing can move.

I also assumed the list was the queue, top to bottom. Xiaomi says the order means nothing. And I assumed there was one schedule. There are two in circulation, and they disagree about seven phones. The one I'd trust for any single phone is the one on Xiaomi's page, checked again the day you care about it.
